Stubble management and retention

Managing stubbles post-harvest is an ongoing issue that growers deal with every year in their cropping rotation. OFT contains more than 400 trials on stubble retention, management and benefits. There are over 180 published stubble management trials for wheat, 40 for barley and 35 for canola.

Managing soil moisture

Many different strategies exist to conserve soil moisture pre and post sowing including spraying and tillage. There are over 150 trials in Online Farm Trials covering issues on managing moisture variability, crop rotations that optimise moisture availability, impacts of break and summer crops and nitrogen conservation including ti…

Summer weeds

Controlling summer weeds is a key strategy to conserving moisture and nutrients across medium to low rainfall cropping zones of Australia. Herbicide and tillage strategies, combating weed varieties, herbicides and adjuvants, and latest spraying technologies are included.

Gypsum

Soils that suffer from poor infiltration due to structure decline and sodicity can result in significant losses in productivity and decline in plant health. An amendment commonly used to treat such conditions is gypsum (otherwise known as calcium sulfate dehydrate).

GRDC Communities

GRDC Communities

The GRDC Communities online platform provides access to the most relevant, timely and credible information to grain growers, advisors, industry, and technical experts. The GRDC Communities foster an environment where practitioners and experts collaborate across organisations, state borders, and areas of expertise, to discuss, develop, exchange and publish information that is important to the Australian grains industry.
GRDC - National Variety Trials

National Variety Trials (NVT)

The NVT program was established in 2005 by the GRDC, and is supported by the Australian Government and growers through the GRDC. It is a national program of comparative crop variety testing with standardised trial management, data generation, collection and dissemination. This is managed through an internet accessed database that ensures a common approach and uniformity across the system.
Better Fertiliser Decisions

Better Fertiliser Decisions (BFDC)

Supported by the GRDC and led by the NSW Department of Primary Industries, the Making Better Fertiliser Decisions for Cropping Systems in Australia (BFDC) provides the fertiliser industry, agency staff and agribusiness advisors with knowledge and resources to improve nutrient recommendations for optimising crop production.
